Sonic Youth a été un promoteur du grunge. Il a notamment fait passer Nirvana chez Greffen. Cependant, label indépendant Sub Pop a passé un accord avec la maison de disques Greffen. Nirvana avait déjà vendu 300 000 disques quand il on changer d'étiquette....
